THINGS TO KNOW

Aug. 23rd- Football player reading to our classroom
Aug. 27th- Mile Run planned in gym; bring your water bottle.

Sept. 6th- On-Level Activity/Football Player
Sept. 4th- Our A.R. goal is to have 7.5 A.R. pts. with 85% accuracy for a reading grade and our on-level activity. For your reading level, please keep an average of fifth grade and above.
AGENDA FOR THE WEEK
Reading- A.R.; we will finish Reading Is Thinking (Visualizing, Predicting, Inferring, Summarizing, Connecting, & Questioning).Then we will begin reviewing the story elements. Also, we will start Wordly Wise Lesson 1.
Spelling- Lesson 2
English- Proofreading, dependent/independent clauses, 4 types of sentences, common/proper nouns, & appositives
Math- Adding/Subtracting Decimals, Multiplying/Multiplying Decimals, Powers of 10, Dividing/Dividing Decimals, & Word Problems
Science- Scientific Method
HOMEWORK FOR THE WEEK
The fifth grade homework is posted on the BES website for parents and students. To access the homework, go to es.btownccs.k12.in.us. Then click on the Students & Parents link. Go to the Internet Links/5th Grade tab and click on the homework that you need.
Sign up for my REMIND. This will allow us to communicate with each other privately. If you have a smartphone, open your web browser and go to the following link: rmd.at/38adg39. Follow the instructions from there. If you don´t have a smartphone, text the message @38adg39 to the number 81010.
Lunch Money/Book Rental Instructions
Place lunch and/or book rental money in a white envelope. (I do keep envelopes in the classroom.) Label the envelope with your first and last name/5A and identify what is in the envelope. You can also pay Open House night.
Fifth Grade Snack
Due to 5th grade not having lunch until 12:30 p.m., students will be permitted to bring a healthy snack for themselves to school each day.

1 small art box
4 packages of 12 pencils
3 LARGE boxes of tissue
**Also, bring one container of Clorox wipes if your last name begins with A-M. If your last name ends with N-Y, bring one large box of gallon ziploc baggies.

8:00-8:30 Morning Work (Mrs. Cobb)
8:30-9:15 Language Arts (Mrs. Cobb)
9:20-10:05 Specials (Monday-Chromebooks; Tuesday- gym; Wednesday- study hall; Thursday- music; Friday- art)
11:40-12:25 Language Arts (Mrs. Cobb)
1:15-1:35 Study Hall
1:40-2:10 Social Studies (Mrs. Voss)
2:15-2:45 Science (Mrs. Cobb)
2:45-3:00 Restroom/Pack up to go home
We have a reward day every nine weeks for those students who earn their 15 A.R. points with 85% accuracy. The students get a reading TEST grade every 4 1/2 weeks on their A.R.
If you have not signed up for HARMONY, I encourage you to do so. It allows you to view your child's grades and homework. You can sign up at the office.
We encourage you to contact us for a parent/teacher meeting whenever you feel the need. Many times we can meet between 3:00-3:30 after school. Your child is very important to us, and we only want the best for them.
